Scams happen all the time and unscrupulous individuals prey on the unassuming to make them part with their precious money. Always be wary of that it might happen to you as this happens more often than you think. So, what can you do?
Tell-tale signs that you are being scammed
- You are asked to share personal information such as identification number, banking details, credit card details and/or passwords. Please note that Kenanga Investment Bank BErhad will NEVER request for personal banking information when contacting customers, be it via telephone calls, WhatsApp, SMS or emails.
- You are asked to transfer or pay an “advance fee” in order for an application or investment to be approved.
- You are paying into an account that is not Kenanga Investment Bank Berhad, Kenanga Investors Berhad or Kenanga Futures Sdn Bhd.
- You are pressured to act immediately in order to secure a ‘promotion’ or a ‘deal’.
- You are being ignored after you ahve shared certain banking information or after you have transferred money.
If you suspected that you are being scammed, here’s what to do:
- Put down the phone immediately or stop communicating if you suspect anything amiss. Immediately verify with your bank or investment companies.
- Change your passwords.
- Lodge a police report.
