mainslide

Rakuten Trade holds a restricted Capital Markets Services Licence (“CMSL”) by the Securities Commission Malaysia to deal in listed securities and provide investment advice. Since 2017, we have been Malaysia’s first and only completely digital equities broker. Rakuten Trade is listed on SC’s Public Register of Licence Holders.

We are aware of the articles published in the newspapers and believe that they were inaccurately reported, as Rakuten Trade is licensed by the Securities Commission Malaysia. We are also aware of companies and individuals claiming to be representing Rakuten Trade or a company with a similar name. We have made reports with the police and MCMC as well as placed notices on our social channels. We strongly advise our clients to always use our official website www.rakutentrade.my when making enquiries and or conducting trading activities.

We would like to caution members of the public to be wary of fraudulent individuals impersonating as Banks or Financial institutions providing fake products or services.

Tell-tale signs that you are being scammed

  • You are asked to share personal banking information such as identification number, banking details, credit card details and/or passwords via telephone calls, WhatsApp, SMS or emails.
  • You are asked to transfer or pay an “advance fee” in order for an application or investment to be approved.
  • You are paying into a personal bank account and not the company.
  • You are pressured to act immediately in order to secure a ‘promotion’ or a ‘deal’.
  • You are guaranteed a high return in a short period of time.
  • You are being ignored after you have shared certain banking information or after you have transferred money.

If you suspected that you are being scammed, here’s what to do:

  • Put down the phone immediately or stop communicating if you suspect anything amiss. Immediately verify with your bank or investment companies.
  • Change your passwords.
  • Lodge a police report.

STAY SMART, STAY ALERT!
